Lost in Autumn (Haiku Sequence)

brown leaves . . .
we walk the path
to his log cabin

pausing
father asks
what month it is

twilight
the wind
dogs us

wooded hills . . .
rain fogs
distant city lights

taking refuge
from the downpour . . .
his dark walls

after listening
to arias
the torrents

lights out . . .
in his armchair
he watches thunder

closing his eyes
feeling
the boom

he retires…
gazing at the window's blur
he fades
