October Evening, a double Sedoka
mingle with the sounds of night
       ~ Marcel Aime Duclos
by Wilda Morris

Falling maple leaves,
flaming goldenrod, fireflies,
mingle with the sounds of night:

the last cicadas,
footfall of possum and fox,
breeze-blown cattails and grasses.

The moon is peeking
from behind the fluffy clouds
sparkling water on the pond.

Hold me closer, love.
Whether we trip or dance, let’s
mingle with the sounds of the night.
