Oignon Piqué
from the kitchen of Sharmagne Leland-St. John

Select a fresh white onion. Remove the peel
and trim off the root end. (You can replant
this in your garden or flower pot to grow a
new onion!)

Cut the onion in half and lay 2 bay leaves
across the cut side using 2-3 whole cloves
to "pin" them to the onion.

Place the onion into a pot of broth or
stock and cook until the onion is soft.
Remove the onion from the broth and
add the other ingredients to your soup.
