The Confession
by Candace Turner

If I finally come clean
admit I want a divorce
Confess to having an affair
What would she say?

There will be tears
Tears of guilt, anger & hurt
She’ll want to know
the unpleasant minutia

How long has this been going on;
how could I do this to her,
to our family; what will our friends
think, or do they already know?

Finally the questions I dread the most
will surface through her sobs
Does she know her; do we work together;
how did we meet; can’t we fix this;
do I love her?

What will happen on that day
when I confess, I’ve fallen in
love with her younger sister?
