A Girl, a Risqué Pose
Taken on May 23, 1883

by Jane Lang

What would she say
the two-tongued girl
in the photo frame
and what would happen
on that day?
I see the
sepia and rust puddling
around her ankles
while she smiles like
an angel, the mind
of a devilish imp
skirts hiked up
one pearl-button boot
exposed
nonchalantly making a
small moue, those
pouty lips
those laughing eyes
those elegant, slender
fingers splayed
searching today for
tomorrow; be damn
the consequences
