As Leaves Fall
by Karen O'Leary

As autumn sneaks up,
She is slapped with reality.

Leaves drop one by one,
Each adding to the losses.
Advanced cancer dropped
Virtual bushels on her head.
Each organ biopsied was +.
She shares her thoughts–

“Fatal disease teaches one
About harvesting simple joys.
Letting go of autumn’s losses–
Letting go …” Her tears fall.
