Woodstock ~ Vermont, by Chandler Anderson

Quiet Hours
by Marcel Aime Duclos

Three houses away,
the church bells rest
with the fallen foliage
sleeping a sidewalk repose.

Villagers, no longer
on the street,
sit at the Sunday table
before afternoon family time.

Shingle and metal roofs
sentinel the street.
Pumpkin-dotted fence
neighbors verdant hedge.

Lone blue spruce
softens stern elms.
It is ten past the hour
in the tranquil valley.
