Columbine’s Song to Harlequin
by Sharmagne Leland-St.John

I'll begin with the dark keys
and plunk out a tune for you
eventually a symphony
of hollow caves
and echoes in the moonlight

the melody of waves
lapping distant shores.
the flight of hummingbirds
the silken wings of doves

the sigh of Sciroccos
across the Sahel
the Savanna hymns of crickets

a murmur of bumblebees
and mermaids
murmuring
the siren’s song
well tuned

a lark’s lament
for grief you’ve spent
an elegy to raindrops
an aria da capo
and if it’s Monday
I’ll kiss you too
