A True Tale of a Murder

All morning the crows
cawed and cackled
from their perch upon
a bare branch atop
a stately maple,
no doubt relishing
the flavorful remnants
of a still-meaty pork chop
their leader had filched
from a trash container
I thought securely and safely
placed in my driveway
