Autumn Comes
by Maralee Gerke

It comes when autumn comes
the stirring of emotions and endings.
The knowledge of many autumns, creates a deep burning
blue inside, a churning, stomach clenching
feeling that another year is slowly
winding down.
As I age, endings become more familiar
and inevitable.
Unavoidable now, I wish for
a little more sun, a little more light,
and a little more time, before
the finality that autumn brings.
