A hundred or so gulls
by Lenora Rain-Lee Good

rest on boathouse roof
as one, they stand,
waddle to the edge,
watch the water with
single-minded attention.

When the show is over
by ones and twos
they wander back to
the sun-warmed center
of the metal roof.
