Nostalgia
by Charlotte Digregorio

on a crisp autumn day
returning to my hometown
i walk to my high school
standing wistful
at the football field’s fence

at my class reunion
i remember
their faces and names
though i fail
to be memorable

at day’s end
i climb the hill to where
my grade school stood
sixty years ago
now razed for a nursing home
