Palette of Joy
by Annie Jenkin

How do I tell you my favourite colour
when I see so many?
Is it daybreak's sunny curtain
or sky's myriad of blues
providing stunning backdrops.

Do rainbows become nature’s palette?
Mixing and matching hues
by a hand unknown,
applying shades and contrasts,
in muted tones or bold primary.

From the smallest drop
spotted on a tiny flower,
to the wildest of brush strokes
filling a forest, dabbing, matting
striking and splashing.

Elegance and serenity infused
joyfully it all fills me with smiles,
perhaps the question should be:
What gift have I been given
that is so precious?
