Leaving Hallstatt ~ photo credit: Sharmagne Leland-St.John

Hallstatt
by Sharmagne Leland-St.John

Veiled in gossamer mists
Glacial mountains still covered with snow,

You with your red umbrella held high
Against the dark and moody sky

Below us the ancient alpine village
Resting on its own reflection

Glimmer-glass black lake
Ripple-less
Mirrors her beauty

The church steeple
A needle stitching earth
To heaven

Hear the lullaby
Of distant chimes,
Dulcet bells and vespers

Echoed through the valley
Until it becomes a whisper

Hallstatt!
