Autumn’s Refreshment
by Karen O’Leary
Now that summer’s gone,
I trade my flip-flops
for the warmth of tennies,
walking outside in comfort.
The evening’s gentle zephyr,
now that summer’s gone,
kisses my face with cool
bliss as the trees crackle.
Sipping a cup of rich java,
enjoying fall’s slower pace
now that summer’s gone,
and the harvest is done.
The scent of my outdoor
fireplace soothes my soul.
Another chapter begins
now that summer’s gone.
