Emmylou
by Sharmagne Leland-St.John

Emmylou
You were the background music
To my life, your lyrics
Saw me through
Heart ache
Heart break
I was one of your lost sheep
My pain so deep
I thought that I would die
I had no tears left to cry
He was my finest hour
Quoting James Joyce
He said I was “his mountain flower”
He was my morning star
He filled my every need
But he left a jagged scar
When he broke my heart
Ripped it apart
And left me there to bleed.
Your songs softened the blow
I had no choice
So I let go

Thank you
Emmylou!
