Orchards in Blossom, by Vincent Van Gogh, 1889

Plum blossoms scent a soothing breeze.
Gone are winter’s frigid gales.
Tree trunks lean like billowed sails.
Their finer, arching branches tease
the eye–their pale gray filigrees
arrayed with creamy yellow veils
and swirls. A closer view reveals
fragile petals hosting bees,
each momentarily at rest–
sipping, humming, floating–while
the meadow buttercups beguile
any passerby or guest.
Poets would lift their pens to write.
This artist seizes ambient light.
