Childhood Memories
by Sharmagne Leland-St. John

Upon a chair in the corner, I sat
Little four-year-old me
Feeling so small
As I faced the wall
Yearning to be
Set free.
I’d been sitting here for so long
Trying to figure out what I’d done wrong
I sat and sucked my thumb
Until my bottom became quite numb
Then turned into a pain
How long must I remain
Like Little Jack Horner
Stuck upon a chair in the corner
