Painting by Richard Sylbert

New Futures
by Howard Osborne

Now let me take a last look, if you please
My life here on the coast, was never bad
Yet memories get lost in the cold breeze

A quiet time for which I should be glad
The scene is stillness, and I merely stare
Such a peaceful view, I cannot feel sad

I see land’s end houses but no-one there
Just glimmers of sunlight across the bay
Last vestiges of warmth in the chilled air

Skies are clouding over, and all is gray
A storm is due, perhaps later today
