A Winter Villanelle
by Sharmagne Leland-St.John

A dusting of fresh snow fell last night
Trickled down
Covering the pasture with a thin sheet of white

Sparkling it was in the morning light
Without a sound
A dusting of fresh snow fell last night

It was a beautiful sight
Earth bound
Covering the pasture with a thin sheet of white

Snowflakes like diamonds shining bright
My pasture it found
A dusting of fresh snow fell last night

Canadian geese still in flight
It fell to  the ground
Covering the pasture with a thin sheet of white

From my window I watch it bedight
With snow all around
A dusting of fresh snow fell last night
Covering the pasture with a thin sheet of white
