A Path To The Afterlife
by MFrostDelaney
This autumn in my life I look ahead.
Sometimes what I foresee is bitter snow
as others facing age have often said.
But I don’t wish to see death as a foe.
A peaceful heaven would be my delight.
Arrive at pearly gates where angels sing.
One whisks me up into its cherub flight.
Now isn’t that the afterlife’s brass ring?
I often think that purgatory fits
my passing on, as it bestows the chance
to enter heaven, cash in all my chits
at Peter’s Gate for entry to God’s manse.
But truth be told, it is a mystery
what’s on the other side of my last breath.
Some tenets say that what is going to be
depends on my belief before my death.
Right now, I choose the credence of The Christ,
The Bread of Life. That’s how my faith is sliced.
