Stepping Out
by Loretta Sturgeon

High moon light refraction–
a perfection
long forgotten until I am
walking in pristine winter chill
with darkness muted and
quiet reigning

not a place I ever
would have thought
I wanted to be
but still I am thrilled
by depths of peace
where shadows are bygone

wonders of the white
crystalline layer
without cease …
giving every reason to embrace
Robert Frost’s walk atop
a dusting of fresh snow
