Lotus’ Secrets
by Bing Hua
Tr. Liu Mei

A budding lotus in summer’s glow
Its heart entwined in secrets unknown
Who can unwrap the layers, one by one
Who can summon the heart beneath the sun

Those with no fate to connect and bind
Either come too late or leave behind

The sweet heart waiting in silent pain
Turns into bitter seeds of lotus gained
The end cannot change, thus stays the same

The lotus’ secrets lie in hollow scars
Broken yet clinging, like cocoon silk threads drawn afar
