Arabian Night
by Deborah Russell

it has passed
and nearly invisible
the night of nights
a meeting
of ultimate dreams

how silently it left
and disappeared
as quietly as it came

a concept and a precept
that grew with each hello
it bloomed hibiscus red
beneath a generous
orange and yellow sun

it grew the agile wings
of a small bird
soared the unknown
in original flight

an arabian night
a pure blend of
souls - feathered,
flesh to flesh
so brief, its sweet caress
in the book of nights

a page, unturned - turned
in mere words
that did float and hum
circled the air
like a ruby throat
and choked softly, silently
while holding the breath
of a desert storm

our arabian night burst
fireworks, splattered,
scattered like confetti
we became a random act
inked and stained
with the remains
of a dream
and an unwritten poem
vanquished and vanished
in aromatic scenes
particles gone, verbs exiled
in foreign tongues
and the fair winds
cover its traces
smooths
the edges with sand
