The Eclipse
by Janet Leister

at the new moon I am hidden behind you
and when full, I reflect your light

gravity dictates our astral chase
locked in orbit through the ages
we dance among the constellations
forever embraced, but never touching

when you shine upon me
I radiate your love
when you occlude me
I pout in the shadow

waxing and waning,
we approach, but retreat in fear
of celestial passion and divine love
our paths cross and diverge
cloaked in penumbra, you hide

our heavenly bodies continue the chase
now you are invisible,
but I know that inevitably
declination and right ascencion coincide
and you illuminate me once again
