View Near Elizabethtown, N.J., 1847, by Régis François Gignoux

On this Pale Pink Morning
...Christmas Day 1847
by Sharmagne Leland-St. John

We are ice dancing
Where we fished in spring

Mama saved her grocery money
did without her tea and honey

Made this loving sacrifice
So we could dance all day on ice

Now in brand new leather skates
We spin and glide in figure eights

Sis and I tell each other
How lucky we are to have our mother
