Upon a Branch
by A.I. Martin

Upon a branch with snow adorned,
A cardinal bright, in red reborn,
Crimson blaze 'gainst winter's white,
A flicker bold, a heart's delight.
Feathers fluffed in frosty air,
Echoes soft of nature's prayer,
Silent woods, yet life aglow,
Ruby flame on drifted snow.
Chilled winds whisper, trees stand bare,
But warmth resides within its flare,
A beacon small, yet strong and proud,
Singing sweetly, clear and loud.
In that stillness, pure and grand,
Hope perches in a scarlet band,
A simple bird, yet so profound,
Painting joy where none was found.
