Castle Mey
by Sharmagne Leland-St. John

Through the fog
I glimpsed the turrets
of the stately Castle Mey

Imagined that I saw
gardens pink with evening
primrose overflowing
walls and stairs

Waterfalls cascading down
to fill the moat
with swirls of mossy green

Encompassed
in great swaths of clouds
a misty tower could be seen

As we approached the drawbridge
I heard a dozen songbirds sing
the sound of chirps soon faded

Drowned out by the stirring,
soulful skirl of bagpipes
announcing our arrival
for our short stay at Castle Mey
