Lighthouse, by Sharmagne Leland-St.John

Lighthouse
by Sharmagne Leland-St. John

Lighthouse
guides us to the shore
safe from rocks
and coral reefs
foghorn moans
her dirge of grief

In this storm
the wickie keeps
his vigil
all night long
while mermaids chant
their mournful song

No more wreckage
flotsam … jetsam strewn
along the beach
when harbour’s docks
were within
such easy reach
