Sand Castles
by Sharmagne Leland-St.John

We built castles made of sand,
The summer I turned ten
Some by shovel, some by hand,

Upon this tiny spit of land.
Me and Mama, Kip and Jen
We built castles made of sand.

They turned out just as planned.
We scooped the turret from boggy fen,
Some by shovel, some by hand.

Kip made a small demand,
As do all young men.
We built castles made of sand.

He wanted us all to stand
And form with peat, a mossy glen,
Some by shovel, some by hand.

We built castles made of sand
Some by shovel, some by hand,
Me and Mama, Kip and Jen,
They turned out just as planned.
