Together on This One Day
by Marcel Aime Duclos
By the inlet in mid-day summer light,
standing 'neath the willow, dear,
tell me you do see this sight–
cool, colorless water, bright
museum-glass, tranquil, clear
by the inlet in mid-summer light.
There, six feet under, without fright,
infant clouds dance, disappear.
Tell me you do see this sight–
moments of white shimmering delight
seducing young and old to tears
by the inlet in mid-day summer light.
Below as above, all quite right–
gulls, pelicans, a lone blue heron cheer.
Tell me you do see this sight.
Silver flashes in the satin current do incite,
invite us to a wordless heart frontier
by the inlet in mid-summer light.
Tell me you do see this sight.
