As Time Dwindles
by Vaughn Neeld
If we could see each grain of sand
as it passes through an hourglass’s waist,
how many tiny diamonds would we find?
Too often, our gleaming moments
flash past like those tiny gems,
ablaze with sudden light before they drop away
to be forgotten among so many others.
Seconds, minutes, hours, days, years
of bejeweled moments beyond recall
as our lives dwindle into eternity.
Each memory falling away, crystal by crystal,
like sands in the hourglass of time.
