And Then

like a kitten, hiding from the tiger,
the days crept by slowly

like the child hoping not to be seen
the days crept by slowly

like the husband, hoping to avoid another honey-do
the days crept by slowly

then

          the kitten pounced
          the child leapt
          the husband hugged

with sunshine and laughter
time once again ran on schedule.
