ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Dan Fitzgerald is an award winning poet and two time Pushcart Award nominee. His work has appeared in The Writer’s Journal, Blindman’s Rainbow, Origami Press, Nomad’s Choir and many others. Secret

I have lost the day
to the mindless duties
once thought as important,
wasting moments lasting for hours.
Too many of those, I tell myself,
trying to remember the pauses
of taking a breath to follow a cloud
or to look at a bird building a nest.
That is the secret, I think now,
I must use the time I have
not worrying what others are suggesting
but finding all the bits and pieces I need
to make a life I can live in
with love.
