The Wind in the Willows
by Sharmagne Leland-St.John
The wind in the willows sang an old song
A chorus of crickets in the lea chirped along
Creating a symphony
Frog could be heard down in the hollow
As he chimed in croaking his solo
The whisper of owl wings
A magnificent crescendo
Coaxed the meadowlarks to sing
An oboe obbligato
The stars winked and blinked
As Coyote crooned a tune
To the sliver of a silvery moon
Alas, too soon came the dawn
The wind died down
Not a sound could be heard
But the plaintive cry of a mockingbird
