You Cannot Hold the Wind
by Sharmagne Leland-St.John

You cannot hold the wind
A soul is like that
Be not the one who sinned

You cannot rescind
A ball once it has left the bat
You cannot hold the wind

Be not the one who grinned
Like the Cheshire Cat
Nor the one who sinned

A butterfly, wings pinned
To a beveled mat
You cannot revive or rescind

You cannot hold the wind
That’s a fact
There are words one cannot rescind
Be not the one who sinned
