Sun Drenched Laundry Sails
by Lenora Rain-Lee Good
Nightshirts sail on the drying line
blown by summer’s prairie wind
two large for ma and pa
three smaller for the young‘uns.
When brought in at close
of day, they are bleached
white and air-perfumed
with scent of river, cologne
of sunbaked grass, sachet
of sun, aroma of pale blue sky.
Wind-whipped soft
nightclothes, sheets–
gentle dreams of
life in the velvet night.
