Tethered Laundry–1892
by Paulette Demers Turco
In Petit Gennevilliers,
the Seine rolls rippling by.
Impressions fill blue sky
while wintery chills ensnare
the snow-free air. New bare-
field hints of green belie
how this March day’s awry.
Hung linens clap, “beware,”
so percussively,
kilometers away
from Paris factory stacks’
spew of industry.
Fresh is this air, this play
of puffed-up pillow sacks.
