Little Lives in Sun and Shadow
by Linda Fuller
Lacy lilacs by the lakeshore
bring the buzzing bees to burrow
in their blossoms seeking succor
Spiders spin in silence
silken snares to satisfy their hunger
trapping tiny tasty morsels
Snails that slime and worms that wriggle
thrive in settings moist and misty
sun's rays make them scorch and sizzle
Little lives in light and darkness
ride this pirouetting planet
through the star besotted sky
