When Dew Was on the Meadow
by Sharmagne Leland-St.John

When dew was on the meadow
And green buds all abloom
She gazed through the open window

And espied a distant rainbow
Beyond the Scottish broom
When dew was on the meadow

She looked beyond the hedgerow
Her room a musty tomb
She gazed through the open window

Resting there in limbo
Inside her gloomy room
When dew was on the meadow

She dreamt of going to Glasgow
To escape the dreaded gloom
She gazed through the open window

She felt the breezes blow
As she turned back to her loom
When dew was on the meadow
She gazed through an open window
