Shadows of the Crow
by Lenora Rain-Lee Good
Chickens in a wheelbarrow–
mountains blue against gray sky–
the statue remains uncarved–
stepping into boundless breath you become–
words remain unspoken–
facts are stone, facts are glass–
imagination is crow shadow caressing Earth–
salmon race to spawn–
tallgrass prairie reaches, blooms–
the assassin’s bullet finds its mark–
clouds are poems written across the sky–
Renee, Alex, Trayvon, Matthew: fated siblings, jumped for the sun–
A breeze blows in from the bay.
for Renee Good, Alex Pretti, Trayvon Martin, Matthew Shepard, & all the fated siblings
after reading April 2026 Quill & Parchment
