The Song I Wrote for You
by Sharmagne Leland-St.John

C, G and E are all I need
to write a country song for you.
I think of you all day long
and try to remember
where our dreams went wrong.

When love was young and new,
we used to give each other lilacs,
violets just wouldn't do.

In boggy bluebell forests,
the lilacs wet with dew,
I'd steal a kiss and soon
we'd stop to pick a few.

Then one day we parted.
You went north
and I went south
a little broken hearted.

I think of you all day long
And try to remember
where our dreams went wrong.

Whenever I am able
there's a vase upon the table
filled with bouquets of lilacs
next to the song I wrote for you.
