Komorebi
by Vaughn Neeld

The whispered breath of autumn sighs among riverside trees.
Leaves quiver, tremble above the banks of the diminished river
that mutters guttural protests to impeding boulders.

The whispered breath of autumn sails above the water,
brings a hush as red and yellow leaves slowly glissade
through slanted rays of sunshine that gilt trees in gold.

There is a word for this fugitive light–Komorebi–
       light that dances among leaves
today stirred by the whispered breath of autumn.
