Alien Rainfall
by Howard Osborne

Here, my last day on this world
And a strange storm has arrived
Until now, a gentle green ocean
Now, whipped up as if in a rage
Under black rain, dripping down
From clouds, like logs in the sky
A mass of thrusting stems rising
One more thing that’s surprising
Spheres here too, I wonder why
One is yellow, a few look brown
My stabiliser I must now engage
No logic here, just raw emotion
But at least so far, I’ve survived
As all this around me has swirled
