Home is the Hunter
by Sharmagne Leland-St. John

Home is the hunter
Home from the hill
Home is the hunter
Displaying his kill

Home is the hunter
Home from the moor
The pheasants all strung
By the stable door

Home is the hunter
Home from the hill
The grouse neatly hung
O'er the pantry sill

Home is the fisher
From over the hill
Home from the river
His creel is filled

Home by the hearth
He stirs the logs
At his feet sleep
His hunting dogs

He lights his pipe
He warms his hands
Grateful for the bounty
From his ancestral lands.
