As Thoughts Fly, by Deborah DeWit
Remembering Hildegard of Bingen
by Marcel Aime Duclos
I am an open room,
a dance floor to thoughtful pansies and violas.
Ravens visit both sides
of the thin window panes.
My psyche floats to the surface,
never losing touch with the depth
despite the turbulent gilded surface.
While a storm approaches this side of the sun,
pines stand side by side with live oaks–
all touched golden before the dark hours.
Nine ravens leave the scene,
evoke triple energy and knowledge
on both sides of the eight-pane window.
I recognize my totem animal
crossing from right to left–
to my unconscious–
away from innocent flowers
glued to the living room wall,
untainted and unaware
of future guilt
in need of forgiveness.
