As Thoughts Fly, by Deborah DeWit
Surrealism in Flight
by Vaughn Neeld
Purple pansies dance upon the pages of an open book,
blackbirds flee past a clouded sky like fanciful thoughts
winging west above a tree-lined, shadowed sea
seen darkly through a paned window next to a wall
papered with a strutting chorus line of tiny daisies,
the scene as incoherent as late evening's inchoate thoughts.
