As Thoughts Fly, by Deborah DeWit
Uninvited Guest
by Sharmagne Leland St.John
As I clung to sleep
You flew inside my window
Where no curtain hung
Crows outside taking flight
Filled the sky
I count them
Just like sheep
First by twos then by threes
Their “caw caw”
Echoes through the trees
The book I read last night
Resting on the sill
Morning clouds are grey
They cast a gloom
Upon the distant hill
Beyond the pasture
Green River flows
On her way to meet the sea
How came you
To choose my room,
To awaken me
To this eerie sight?
