Warning
by Paulette Demers Turco

The crows perch, cawing, still as stones,
By woods of red pines overgrown.
The winds are whistling varied moans,
some in lovely monotone
as darkness falls, devoid of moon
and stars. The harbor foghorn groans.
Deep is the dark of promise postponed.
