“Autumn Tangle” (1920) by William Henry Holmes

Hypnotic
by Elizabeth Stanley King

Am I being drawn in by a hypnotic
fall-colored path to Lothlorien?
Or maybe it is an ethereal gateway
to a sacred forest path.

A sacred trail which each and every
forest denizen must eventually
traverse to reach the Rainbow Bridge.

A sacred journey designed to
cleanse the soul and escape all
the evils of the world.

A place to find serenity and forget the loss
of our wild places. But, perhaps, just perhaps,
the two places are actually one and the same.

I’d like to think so. I think we need
a little Tolkien magic in our lives.
